A new bill in Congress

We try to stay away from celebrity scandal here at the Dooferbook, as worship of famous people is a completely mind-numbing pursuit that takes away from normal everyday activities like sleeping late and drinking beer. In case you aren't up to speed with the leading news story in the world, it seems Tiger Woods has been busy putting that big fat wallet to work, laying miles and miles of pipe along the lonely road of the PGA tour. As all his conquests of Christmases past began oozing from the woodwork, his wife got wind of  his romps and did what no other player on the PGA tour has been able to do: beat the snot out of him with a golf club. While I'll leave it to the mainstream press to keep you up to date on the latest misdeeds of Tiger, I thought I'd share a clip from a Chinese news station covering the big story. Not content with simply reporting the news, these guys created a 3D re-enactment of the events of  last weekend, complete with some pretty nifty CGI that makes the animation efforts of our global warming friends (The Deadly Consequence of Global Warming) look even further amateurish. How long until we see this kind of reporting in our media? Has China ushered in a new era of newspeak?

Last year before the election we reported on the "Obama Youth Junior Fraternity Regiment", a paramilitary-like political youth group  that was set up in a Kansas City charter school. It seems that post-election, the political indoctrination of our kids has reached out to more public schools. The first number in the medley is sung to the tune of "Jesus Loves the Little Children"; the second to "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." Lyrics follow...

Tintin Au Congo (Tintin in the Congo), an eighty -year old children's book that follows the adventures of a reporter and his dog, was yanked today from the aisles of the Brooklyn Public Library after having been deemed "racist"by the PC police.  Racist or not, the banning of books is yet another step closer to 1984, and a road that we as a country don't want to go down. But is anyone really surprised?

Amazon. com has had an unlikely hit with their Kindle electronic book readers. The device allows you to download e-books from the Amazon server and take the 'book' with you wherever you go - kinda like, uh... a book I guess. To be fair, the Kindle will store up to 1500 non-illustrated books, which means you could carry around more books than you'll ever read right in your flight kit. If only it wasn't so damn ugly!

The Kindle created quite a stir last week when Amazon discovered a couple of George Orwell titles it sold to thousands of customers had been pirated by the publisher of the e-books. Their solution was to automatically wipe out editions of 1984 and Animal Farm from users' Kindles  with their master server. The Kindle is a wireless device which communicates with the mother ship back at Amazon HQ to facilitate delivery- and now obviously deletion - of  their digital content. Critics pointed out the potential danger in this system, as it seems plausible that Amazon can also track what you read and when you read it. This opens up a slew of nefarious possibilities from linking your reading habits to targeted advertising or reporting them to a higher authority - remember, they already have your vital personal information on file. Sounds like 1984 to me!

Conspiracy theories aside, the US govt. is now the majority stakeholder in GM with a 60% interest in the company. GM is considered one of the worst offenders by the global warming lobby (the ManBearPigs), as much of what GM produces involves more than four cylinders and runs on fossil fuels. With the new Administration and Congress committed to "ending global warming", GM as a corporation will most likely emerge from bankruptcy unrecognizable from its present form.

What's at stake? SUV's, pick-ups and other 'gas-guzzling' models that don't pass environmentalist muster. My guess is we've seen the last of GM-produced V-8's for the consumer market. Worse, the govt. now controls GM parts for existing models. Don't be surprised if the new owners of the corporation pull what they tried to pull with the surplus DOD ammo a few months back. What better way to further their agenda than shutting down the parts supply for those big, awful, environment-destroying Escalades, Yukons and Tahoes?

'Bohemian Rhapsody' yanked from graduation ceremony

Marion High School (Iowa) Principal Greg Thomas yanked Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" from the May 31 graduation ceremony after people in the community objected, saying it wasn't "appropriate" for the occasion. They point out references to murder and suicide in the lyrics. First choice replacement for the song? "Imagine" by John Lennon - a song that references atheistic socialist ideals ;-).

For God's sake, let the kids have their fun...

...of the new Administration's efforts to squash our 2nd Amendment rights. First up was  H.R. 45, a bill put forth to institute onerous firearm licensing and registration restrictions.   Next DOD announced it will no longer sell spent ammunition casings to ammunition reloaders, a move that instantly ratcheted down the supply of .223/5.56 ammo. Prices for AR-15 type munitions have already nearly doubled in the last couple of years, and now it's almost impossible to even find bulk ammo anywhere.

While the rest of the anti-gun lobby is busy whipping up the latest incarnation of the "assault weapons ban", the government has been busy putting forth an incredible bit 'doublethink' - the notion that 90% of all guns used by Mexican drug gangs originate in the US. What they don't tell you (but fully know and undertsand to be the truth) is that 90% of traceable guns come from north of the border. Most guns that bad guys use are of course not traceable, so the real number of US guns floating around in Mexico is only about 17%.
