Welcome to the Freak Show!

There was no shortage of things to do in Atlanta today - college football at the Dome, Braves at the Ted, Nascar at the Speedway, and Dragon-con, the largest fantasy/sci-fi convention in the land. Since early season college football doesn't interest me and I already had plans to see the Braves on Sunday - plus the fact that I nearly fell over when I realized the race would cost me over 5 bills to take the kids - we settled on the Freak Show. And what a show it was!

 

The parade featured a bunch of A-list celebrities including Lou Ferrigno (the original Hulk), Richard Hatch from Battlestar Galactica (never was a fan), and two of everybody's favorite Dynamic Duo - Bo and Daisy Duke. Daisy has packed on a few extra pounds these days (like your humble narrator), and fortunately was fully clothed for her appearance.

 

The highlight of the day? Meeting Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, decked out in full 1980's fighter pilot regalia and sporting a girlfriend much younger than Kelly McGillis. What Maverick has to do with Sci-fi is beyond me, but he was no more out of place than the three fat guys I saw dressed up as bumble bees...
